Tonight students should complete Lesson 16 Problem Set. The last problem is a challenge. Students are welcome to try it but we'll discuss it in the morning.
Complete Lesson 15 Homework. The problem set for lesson 15 was done by most students in groups on Friday. Students can use that to help them complete the story problems on the back of Lesson 15.
Students do not have homework tonight but tomorrow's class will cover Lesson 15 so students could prepare by watching Duane Habecker on YouTube or the video below. Students can also begin working on XtraMath or Zearn as well. Tonight's math homework is Lesson 14 Homework. Students should use the Lesson 14 Problem Set, that we worked on in class together, if they have troubles. Students may also use a calculator to find out if their difference found added to the part given results in the sum of the whole given.
Students now have XtraMath and Zearn accounts and can log in at home for additional math support. There is a button for both websites on this page. The class code for Zearn is DX4V4R. Tonight's homework is to complete Lesson 13 Homework. They should not only focus on the standard algorithm but also drawing tape diagrams/bar models that are aligned to the problem. For every problem they could practice saying and answering the following question: "What number can be added to _______ (part) to result in the sum of ____________ (whole)." This is the same question as on number 2 in the homework and problem set. We worked on this in groups today.
Tonight's homework is to complete Lesson 12 Homework.
Students are working on paying attention to the word "than" which means the story is comparing two things. They should also focus on assessing the reasonableness of their work which can only be done after rounding the numbers and comparing the actual sum with their estimated sum. Tonight's homework is to complete the backside first of Lesson 11 Problem Set before moving on to the front side. To complete the word problems, students should rely on the following steps: Read, Draw, Write, Solve, Statement.
First of all, I'm sorry I didn't post last night. Most of the students had their homework complete so I'm happy to see they were responsible.
Today students began the mid-module assessment and will continue it tomorrow. They will be assessed using a rubric that is measuring three different standards we have worked on thus far. Tonight's homework is to complete Lesson 10 Sprint. Today's class was focused on rounding any number to any place value. Students worked on Lesson 9 problem set in class but need to complete Lesson 9 Homework as homework tonight. I told them I would send them a picture of my work so they can check their work to make sure they are on the right track.
Hope this helps. We are scheduled to have a mid-module assessment on Wednesday. |
