Tonight's homework is to answer the following questions using complete sentences on their notebook paper. Most students finished during our 20 minutes of work time.
1. What new things do you know about William Carlos Williams? 2. What key facts did you learn that you would share with someone who has only read his poems? 3. How did closely reading this paragraph help you understand who William Carlos Williams was?

Tonight students are to respond to the following questions in their My Reflections section of their Poetry Journal: What can you infer inspired William Carlos Williams to write his poetry based on the book A River of Words. What inspired you to write poetry?
Tonight's homework is to publish the poem written last week that was inspired by a famous poet. Also, write in the "My Reflections" section of your Poetry Journal: What have you enjoyed about writing your own poetry?
Tonight's homework is to write the poem inspired by their selected poet. Students will revise them tomorrow so there is no room for students to not have it completed before the start of class.
Students must finish their poem plan graphic organizer they started to work on in class today. This has to be done before tomorrow's class so they can begin writing their poem.
Tonight's homework is to finish the new poem close reading on pages 17-19 of their Reader's Notebook using the poem from the packet they got yesterday. They had time to finish in class so the "real" homework is to reread the poem from their selected poet they analyzed today and read the poem by their selected poet from Unit 1 in the back of Love that Dog then compare the two poems. They should say how the two poems are similar and different. They will write this in their My Reflections section of their Poetry Journal.
Tonight's homework is to reread the poem in Love that Dog by the selected poet (either Valerie Worth, Walter Dean Myers or Robert Frost) and the notes about that poet in their Reader's Notebook.
Tonight students should review all of the Summary Notes from pages 2-5 in their Reader's Notebook and reread sections of Love that Dog that they don't remember well to prepare for their mid-unit assessment tomorrow.
First of all, I'm sorry for not posting last night. Many students in ELA class had completed their homework last night which makes me very happy to see they were responsible.
Today's class was focused on preparing for our first literary discussion. These are one of my favorite times in ELA class. Students had 25 minutes in class to prepare for their literary discussion and many received feedback but their homework is to finish the Preparing for a Literary Discussion graphic organizer tonight as homework since it is required for tomorrow's discussion. Tonight's homework is to make sure your Reader's Notebook is up to date - especially the five things that inspire Jack on the What Inspires Jack graphic organizer.
Today we took the reading i-Ready test so the homework is light due to not having a lesson today. |
